What I Love About My Husband

So I come out the other day and this is what I see.......

Ian walking around in my high heels! Ha ha. He tried to show me how much taller they made him. I know he wouldn't mind adding those three inches so he could over tower me more, but I'm glad he took them off shortly after :) lol. I absolutely love our life together! There is always something to laugh at! It doesn't hurt that he is such a great hubby and does so much for me as well ;) I don't think his legs look half bad either...what do you think? :D

Let Them Eat Cake!

Yes, we finally got to eating our wedding cake! We had left our cake in the basement freezer of our wonderful sister and brother in law when we moved out and forgot to get it back before our one year anniversary! We finally picked it up a few weeks back when we made the trip down for the Jazz game. We even had some sparkling cider and adorable champagne glasses to go with it! So much fun! Our wedding cake originally had five different flavors, but I had saved my favorite flavor for the top so we would actually get to eat it! (Although, I didn't consider the fact that it would be a YEAR old and most likely dry and not very tasty. Smart huh?) Ian ate one peice but couldn't get over the fact it was a year old. While me on the other hand ate at least 3 peices! (Come on it WAS my favorite flavor! Almond Poppy ;) ) Not to mention it was really good! My mom had wrapped it up like five x's and placed it in one of those gallon ice cream buckets. It may not have been as good as it would have been on the wedding day....but I didn't mind :) All I can say is our cake lady did an AMAZING JOB!

This is Ian cutting into the cake.
My first peice...yum :) I swear I didn't put my ring in the picture on purpose, it just happened to be there when I took the pic!

Me on my third peice now...Ian thought I was nuts :/

Goodbye Tobi :(

Our family's exchange student Tobi went back to Germany last Thursday. We were all so sad to see him go. My grandparents, mom, dad, and brothers, as well as Ian and I all went out to lunch before his flight left to bid him goodbye. In the past four months he has become another memeber of our family. We are going to miss him very much, but I suppose we got his mailing address and email and are going to stay in touch! There are not enough good things in the dictionary to say about him. He is just a great kid! We wish him the best back in Germany!

Utah Jazz Game

Ian and I were able to go to the Jazz game Saturday Night with my brothers, Tobi, grandma, and dad. Of course we were in the nose bleed section since all the other tickets are rediculous prices. It was still a lot of fun though! We played the Detroit Pistons and won! Although, it didn't seem to be much of a challenge for the Jazz. They remained up 10 points throughout the whole game. It was Tobi's first game and he was really excited to be there! We wanted to make sure he had this opportunity before he left in a couple weeks! The whole family very much enjoyed it I think.

A Christmas Never to Be Forgotten

With the economy this year I'm sure you know some people that have been struggling to make ends meet. Or perhaps your family themselves are having this hard time. My family is no exception. So when Ian & I showed up Christmas Morning to watch everyone open gifts I was quite surprised to find a large stack of gifts under the tree. I was thinking to myself, "Wow, my parents really outdid themselves this year. I know they have always spoiled us at Christmas, but this isn't the year to impress anyone." Although, this thought came to mind I simply sat down and waited for everyone to arrive and get situated, eager to see what my brothers would have recieved under the tree. After everyone had filtered in, my father began talking about previous Christmas's gone by. The one in particular he mentioned was a year I remember fondly. Our family had chosen another family to buy Christmas for. It was a family of two boys, one was about 8 and the other 16. We did not know them, but were eager to pick out gifts we thought they might enjoy. I remember us sparing no expense (or so it seemed). We purchased toys, and items that were listed they needed. I even remember helping my dad pick out a Walkman for the older boy. I was so excited to give them such a surprise! I was about twelve at the time, and looking back I thought I knew quite well the impression we were going to make when we dropped off the gifts just before Christmas. As my father continued, he told us this year that WE were in fact the chosen family of a secret Santa. All the gifts you see under the tree showed up anonymously at the doorstep a few days before Christmas. Everyone's eyes filled up with tears. My mother began to cry. When my father finished, my brothers and Tobi began to open the gifts one by one so that we all might see what they had recieved. Cody received a new pair of DC shoes which are nicer than any pair he has owned before, and which he was in desperate need of. Tobi received memoirs of Utah and some other needed items that he did not have. Nathan received a pair of church shoes, that he had needed. Him and Cody both recieved multiple games for their handhelds and all were given a watch and lots of socks! When each boy was done unwrapping they all had a pile of gifts that they had recieved. At that moment I realized, the joy I had felt when my family was able to buy gifts for another family, which I thought had been great, was nothing compared to the joy I feel now. I wish I knew the family that had purchased those gifts. I wish I could thank them so deeply for the joy they brought to my family Christmas morning. I don't think they will ever understand what that meant to us. I feel that they must have known exactly what everyone needed and wanted. What a humbling experience it has been for my family, but a most wonderful one. Although, there were no gifts for Ian and I to open from under the tree, I felt more happiness and a greater satisfaction than I have any other Christmas. My family will eternally be grateful for the one's who gave us a Christmas to remember forever. Not only did we receive these gifts but Tobi's parents had also sent my family two large boxes full of gifts from Germany. They included mugs, salt and pepper shakers, cookies, and many more novelties from their home town. All had their state's crescent on them and for each one opened Tobi would tell us about it. My family even received a board game in German! (Guess Tobi will have to translate before he leaves :) It was a splendid Christmas indeed. We ended with the traditional Chrismtas breakfast and went on our way to Ian's family....I was excited to go to Ian's because we had made up baskets for each family with items from our home here in Cache Valley. We included things like Cox honey, Pepperidge Farms, and Bluebird chocolates. I also had spent hours working on an apron for each sister and Ian's mother. I was very happy to find that they liked them all :) They even wore them the rest of the day! Ian and I also received wonderful gifts from the families. Those gifts include, a heated blanket, table lamp for our living room, a hand crocheted blanket, and one of my favorite's was a paper doll set of peppermint rose, which was a doll from my childhood that I had loved very much! All in all I don't think any of us will ever forget this Christmas. I have never been more excited to give the gift of my labors, and more in touch to the true spirit of Christmas.

Less days till Christmas=More Cold+Snow!

So just to tell you a bit more about our anniversary, we went to Pocatello, ID. (It was actually really fun!) That was where this themed hotel was. I was very impressed with this place. When we checked in we met the owners right away and ironically we both had the same last name! They were very friendly and helpful! Then when we walked in the door to our room there was a note card on our bed welcoming us with our name on the card! How sweet :) Also the bath soaps, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion was all bath and body works. (what woman would complain to that...please tell me) The room was immaculate, very clean indeed. The fish tank was even impressive! Those things are hard to keep clean. Any who, the evening was relaxing and fun. We drove all around looking for a place to eat and got lost, walked into a nice Italian restaurant, sat down, Ian ordered a coke,we choked at the prices, then asked to be excused and walked out! Ha ha. After all, his coke came out in a can! are you kidding me? What kind of nice restaurant gives you a soda in a can for two dollars? Not to mention we didn't really feel like spending $20 a plate for something we didn't know was even going to be good! After sometime we ended at another Italian place, although this place was more like a bar/half restaurant (think laid back) It was surprisingly pretty good!! The atmosphere was kinda fun too! (Probably not the most anticipated anniversary destination, but thoroughly enjoyable!) Okay so moving along...we came back borrowed some movies from the office (for free might i add) then relaxed. I woke up the next morning (early as usual) and plastered the mirror with little love notes in heart shaped stickies before Ian was even conscious. It took him a while to notice...ha ha (figures) but was worth it all the same :) We were able to go out for an amazing breakfast (which was included in the price of our room!) and then we headed off for Lava Hot Springs! WOo WOo!! Ian and I had been there over the summer and LOVED IT! That was my favorite trip all summer (and we had gone on lots of trips) I'm pretty sure it was the cheapest too. Any how, that's where we decided to go for our Anni. So in 11 degree weather (or somewhere close to that) we got in our swimming suits and climbed in the springs :) Ahh.....so nice. One problem....we forgot towels. Oops? (so like us) *eyes rolling* Luckily we stayed in the hot springs long enough we were dying of the heat and were happy to get out into the freezing cold. We high tailed it to the locker rooms and both admitted later those hand dryers came in handy :) ha ha. As we were walking out, an elderly gentlemen informed us they had towels in the office you can rent. Again, Oops...ha ha Oh well, we were saving money we'll say :) It made for another memorable experience!!

Our Christmas Tree! It probably could have used some trimming...but that's okay! It had lots of character :)

These pics are of our place in Logan. It was covered in snow!

Now for the part I originally was starting this post for (sorry for the long story! ahh...I'm horrible) we are back in Logan, and I must say IT HAS GOTTEN COLD!!! At night sometimes 2 degrees. 2!!! Today we were fortunate enough to have it 11 degrees during the day...it has been lower. Might I also add the streets are covered in snow, as well as the trees, the yards, the cars, everything. The other thing is, it never melts. It just sticks, and sticks more. I am proud for how brave I am becoming in the snow :) I went out shopping today and drove all by myself!! (yay me!!) It was pretty crazy though, I will say. Even Ian said so, and he likes driving in the snow!! I don't mind it all that much though. It makes for a very beautiful scene, and I have just learned to wear my boots and layer my clothes! Also lots and lots of blankets at night. It's kinda nice that way. Not to mention LOTS and LOTS of HOT CHOCOLATE :) Another nice things is all this cold weather has given me the motivation to stay indoors and continue working on my Christmas projects! I have now completed what 7 baskets and 5 aprons?! (go me again!!!) The aprons are really the thing I am most proud of. (the basket are just like working at pirate o's all over again...ha ha) If you know me at all you know I AM HORRIBLE AT SEWING! I don't know how to thread a bobbin...or turn the sewing machine on for that matter. So the fact that I even dared attempt this was pretty amazing. Granted, my mother helped me with the first 3 and even the 4th she supervised. The 5th though, she doesn't even know I made :) hee hee hee. (I'm so sneaky) My whole family knows I have been making them and has been with me every step of the way watching my work unfold, although they will be surprised to see they too have ones that show up in their hands Christmas day, but those are going to be ones they do not recognize!! How exciting!! :) :) The baskets have turned out quite cute I might add. They are all a little different. I think that's what I like best. Each one is special and designed for the person it is going to! Ah...I love when Christmas gifts are so time consuming. I grow to love them!! I am going to be sad when these baskets and sewing projects aren't sitting in my living room anymore for me to admire.... :( But how wonderful will it be to see every one's faces when they receive them!?! I am very excited.

Our 1 Year Anniversary!

A year has come and gone already! Can you believe it? They say the first year is the hardest and easiest. I don't know that ours was either. haha. We definately are two very different people who had to work out little details now and again. We are also very compatible and LOVE having fun. Most days our relationship was all about dancing to some song we just made up, or laughing at our silly nicknames for each other. Other days we had "serious" talks about money, goals, conflicts, and other normal "life" stuff. Looking back though, it has simply been WONDERFUL. I remember very special moments that bring me to tears and ones that make me wanna laugh till I cry! The first moment where it all began when he proposed at Timpanogos Cave after our hike up. We were on a tour with 9 other people and had made it to the "dark" room where they turn out all the lights and show you the crystals on the wall. The tour guide began telling us the purpose of crystals and their significance while pointing them out on the ceiling with his laser pointer. Suddley he illuminates something small in his hands....it's glowing bright red making it the sole provider of light in the dark cave. I focus in and realize it is a RING! Then just at that same moment a small light comes on lighting directly onto Ian...? He is on his knee! Ian gives his speech and asks me to marry him in front of the tour guide and all the other people on the tour! It was so romantic! I was completely shocked! I never even saw it coming! It was the happiest day of my life...besides the wedding of course :) I had never been so excited. I remember skipping down the trail all the way back to the car and beaming all through my math class a half hour later. I couldn't stop looking at my ring finger! This glittering shiny thing sitting on my hand! It's kinda like when you get your nails done for the very first time...you can't stop looking at them....you look at them when you drive, when you write, when you even read a magazine! Well having a ring is the same thing....It's entrancing! Our wedding day was just as magical. I remember going to sleep that night was just like going to bed as a kid on christmas eve. You know you are tired and you know you are going to want the energy to play all day and not be tired, not to mention the sooner you fall asleep the sooner christmas will come! Going to bed that night was the same. It seemed that the day would never come and I couldn't believe we were finally a day away! It seemed forever before I could fall asleep and I wanted so bad to just wake up and have it be here. Once it finally arrived it was hard to even believe it was our wedding day! I distictly remember being in the bride's room at the temple and being overwhelmed by the beauty of it and how unreal it seemed. I tried to savor every moment of it. I sat at the vanity looked in the mirrors and noticed my dress hanging on the wall. The lights....the feeling....it was breathtaking. Even more so, I remember the matron coming in and calling ian my "husband." It was like "oh yeah he's not my fiance anymore!" "we are MARRIED!" Then even more she called me "Sis. Fisher!" I couldn't help but smile :) I was no longer sis. bosch the name I had grown accustomed to my whole life was no longer my last name. It was strange to think, but empowering at the same time. It was a sense of accomplishment. I had made a decision to be proud of my whole life. I had made my family proud. I had acquired the love of a man most worthy of such love and I too had fallen deep in love with him. All selfishness had been placed aside and now commitments and sacrifices were being made all with this new last name. What a feeling!! I remember how happy I was to see all of my family there to support us, my friends, and all those people that had been apart of my life growing up. We were so privledged to have so many people at our reception as well. I was so surprised to have such a turn out at such a difficult time of year. It was a very special day, and with all the planning and stressing beforehand I'm just happy we made it all the way through! All the details I was so concerned about before seem so minor now. Life so far has been full of surprises and filled with lots of last minute changes! I have enjoyed our time together though and am so excited to celebrate one year with my husband!! For our anniversary we are going to be going to The Black Swan Inn (it's similar to Anniversary Inn) and staying in their Pirate's Suite complete with cannon faucet, barrell shower head, and hook curtain holders! In the room there is an aquarium and ship wrecked hole in the wall :) Our bed is a captians wheel and the carpet is full of jewels! We are very excited to spend sometime away again and in a fun hotel! Our honeymoon in San Diego was absolutely WONDERFUL! The place was on a tropical paradise secluded in its own little oasis. The lanscaping even included lighted tiki torches throughout the resort! It was simply enchanting :) So this year we are hoping for another magical trip :)
