The H1N1.....my enemy!!!

Okay so I haven't talked at all about my job at the Pediatric Office and I just have to say that I have really come to enjoy my job and everyone there! There is one thing for sure there that I absolutely hate, and that is the H1N1. Ah, how it causes so many problems and so much work! The phone rings non-stop. Then if we recieve a shipment of the vaccine the office is complete and utter chaos! Superbills all over the place....reciepts, paperwork, and pens everywhere. The waiting room just busy busy busy! People sitting on all couches, standing by the fishtank, hovering by the door. Good luck keeping your head on straight. Then let's talk about the parents....

I love getting chewed out by the mother's because we don't have it, or because we don't know when we will get it. Oh and the things I hear! We are supposed to save a shot for everyone apparently. Seriously people we are doing everything we can. What do you expect when there is a national shortage! Maybe this is a touchy subject, but the only thing I can really think of doing when I hear these things is just laugh, seriously. Okay so the physician "promised" you a shot? (We must have missed the sticky note that said "save for so-and-so" in the fridge I'm sure, my apologies) It's called first come first serve. Just like the health department people.

Oh and you are mad at ME because I won't put your child in for an appointment when we DON'T have the vaccine? Think about this. If I put you in the computer for an appointment....and that appointment comes....you show up....we don't have the vaccine....what does that equal? more yelling, chairs flying, and still no vaccine....hmmm...I don't see how that solves the problem.

Okay and so if I don't schedule the appointment I am somehow arguing the physicians authority? Wait what? That didn't even make sense....seriously please save me.

Okay so enough blabbing and complaining. Back to the hard facts.
We recieved the H1n1 yesterday 300 doses (3x's the previous and first shipment) and let me just tell you it was up as one of the busiest days ever. I swear we had over 100 appointments for the shot alone....then include two providers in that....yeah I'd really like to know how many people I checked in yesterday. Not to mention people have no idea the work that goes into scheduling and checking in that patient! Okay back to what I was saying....I had so many things going on and me + 2 girls in training + busiest day of our careers = h e double hockey stick!

All I have to say is....I survived....at least I think....My brain is still a little frazzled and I suddenly find myself in horrific flashbacks...but I'm hoping it will all be fine in time....at least until we get it again. Ah!
