Catching Up

My baby boy is now 8 weeks old and we finally got him sleeping well.  He goes to bed between 9:30-10:30 every night and wakes up around 3:00-4:00am to eat and then goes back to sleep till I have to go to work. It's been great to finally catch up on my sleep and he is fairly easy to get to bed.

I start bathing him around 8:00-8:30 then we lotion him up, read a story, and feed him. Then I sing a little song to him, lay him in his crib, turn on his mobile and seahorse and leave the room. He has gotten very good at putting himself to sleep after that.  He's usually out about 10-20 min later. It's great.

This is a picture of his first bath. He wasn't sure about it at first, but now he loves the warm water. He just hates getting out.

This is him with his seahorse. These things are amazing!

My handsome boy in his "rocker" outfit. He finally fits in it! He was so cute the morning I took this picture.

This is him exactly 8 weeks old. He's filling out his swing a lot more! What a little chunk ;)

He now weighs well over 11lbs! I can't believe how fast he is growing. I just love him so much!!

St. Patty's Day & Book Club

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Ian and I had our "book club" meeting with Ian's family on St. Patty's Day. Every few months we get together with the siblings and his parents to have a little party and answer questions about a book we all agreed to read.  This month it was "The Hunger Games" since the movie is coming out next week and we all have read most of the series already. These parties are always eventful. This time mom and Jade set up the room in a fire theme. The table and chairs were covered in black and there were little tea candles (the fake ones) wrapped in orange crinkled tissue paper that glowed and flickered like a little flame on the table. They also scattered the table with gems that glowed under the dim lights. We all sat around and enjoyed a well prepared meal and then went around the table answering trivia questions about the book. It was a lot of fun and I always look forward to seeing how each party is decorated. Ian's mom and sister are so clever and go all out! I really need to remember to take pictures next time...but at least I snapped one of my little boy in his special holiday outfit :) He came to the party too, but pretty much slept through the whole thing...ha ha. I love that kid!

Taking Boss to Work

Last Friday I decided to visit the people at my work and brought Boston for my co-workers to meet! He was awake and happy for most of the time until he finally fell asleep in my arms and everyone was surprised and so happy to see him and me. I'm excited and a little nervous to start work again, but overall I think it will be okay. My co-worker (and partner in crime in my department) decided I needed a picture of me bringing my baby to work.

So, here it is. Boss and me in front of my new/old office :)

I go in for my check-up with the doctor this week and if everything is okay then I will be back to work next week. Hopefully it will be a smooth transition. As of next week I will be a full time working MOM. Wow, kind of scary!

About my boy

My little boy turned one month old last weekend.
He is already growing so fast! I love the little chunky baby he is becoming.

At one month he has just recently started sleeping in 4 hour increments during the night (yay!)
He will sleep in his crib, play pen, or bassinet next to mommy & daddy's bed really well, but his favorite place to sleep?

Mommy's Lap

He occassionaly gives us hints of his smile...I'm not sure if they are voluntary yet or if they are just "gas" as they say, but whatever they are, they are sure are cute and always make me smile.

He has also gotten very clever with his eating habits. He has realized that he is in control over his food and will "latch on" and detach as he pleases. This occurs multiple times during each feeding. He also finds it necessary to squirm all around including whipping his head while still attached near the end of his feeding. Fun for Boston, not as fun for mom as you can imagine ;)

I have a feeling this is only the beginning. I am starting to think he is going to be quite the handful for us in the months and years to come...
